The foundation behind your online business

Keep your website, email and domain decisions understandable.

A website can fail even when the design and content are ready: a domain may point to the wrong server, an SSL certificate can expire, a DNS change can interrupt email, or a hosting account can run out of resources.

Scripture IT helps you map the environment, make controlled changes and document who owns each responsibility. We support new hosting setups, existing WordPress websites, multi-domain cPanel accounts and migration projects.

Domain, DNS and hosting in plain language

Domain: the human-readable address people use to reach your business.

DNS: the routing directory that tells browsers, mail systems and verification services where to connect.

Hosting: the server environment that stores and delivers website files, databases and applications.

Email: a separate DNS path that needs correct MX and authentication records even when the website is working.

Where support can help

Solve the hosting problem before it becomes a business interruption.

A useful first step is a clear view of the domain, DNS, hosting, website, email and recovery responsibilities involved.

The Website Is Not Opening

DNS, nameserver, SSL, document-root, server, database or application problems may look similar to a visitor but need different fixes.

Email Stopped After a DNS Change

Website routing and mail routing are separate. MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records need to be preserved and tested.

Several Domains Share One Account

Clear document roots, databases, SSL certificates and access boundaries help prevent one site affecting another.

WordPress Is Slow or Unstable

Hosting resources, PHP, databases, plugins, caching, images and external services may all contribute to the experience.

You Are Moving Providers

A staged migration can prepare files, databases, DNS, SSL and email before the final cutover is made.

No One Knows How to Restore the Site

A backup plan is useful only when the files, database, access and restoration responsibilities are understood.

A simple operating model

Keep website and email paths visible during every change.

These connections are commonly involved. The actual provider, records and responsibilities are confirmed during discovery.

What each layer does
LayerPurposeTypical responsibility
RegistrarRecords the domain registration and renewal.Ownership, renewal, transfer lock and recovery access.
Nameservers / DNSPublishes the records used by web, mail and verification services.Zone records, TTL, changes, propagation and documentation.
Hosting / ServerRuns the website files, database, runtime and supporting services.Resources, PHP, storage, access, SSL and server support.
Website / CMSDelivers content, application functions and customer journeys.WordPress, themes, plugins, code, forms, updates and content.
Email ProviderRoutes, stores and sends business email.Mailboxes, MX, authentication, delivery, retention and users.
Backup & RecoveryProvides a way to restore agreed assets after failure or error.Frequency, retention, storage, tests, access and restoration.

Choose a hosting approach

Use the environment your business can operate reliably.

The right option depends on traffic, application complexity, control, security, support responsibility, growth and budget—not only on advertised storage or bandwidth.

  • Shared / cPanelPractical for defined website workloads with shared server responsibility and cPanel controls.
  • Managed WordPressUseful when WordPress updates, staging, backups, security and performance need a clearer operating scope.
  • VPSMore control and isolation for applications that need specific resources or server configuration.
  • Cloud / DedicatedConsidered for suitable workloads needing a different scale, architecture or operational model.

Recommendation principle: select an environment your team can secure, monitor, back up, update and recover. More server control also creates more responsibility.

Migration and cutover

Move the website without guessing what the old environment contained.

We separate preparation, testing and DNS change so the business can review the new environment before the final route is changed.

Inventory

Record domains, DNS, files, databases, email, SSL, cron jobs, integrations, access and current dependencies.

Output: migration scope and risk list.

Prepare

Set up the new account, document root, database, PHP, SSL, mail plan and required access.

Output: ready target environment.

Copy & Configure

Move files and database, adjust URLs and settings, and configure the required application services.

Output: reviewable migrated site.

Test

Check pages, forms, logins, media, redirects, SSL, email paths, integrations and responsive behaviour.

Output: test findings and acceptance decision.

Cut Over

Change the required DNS route according to the approved window while protecting mail and rollback information.

Output: live route and post-change checks.

Stabilise & Handover

Monitor the important paths, resolve agreed issues and document the new provider, records and recovery process.

Output: operational handover and support scope.

Security, continuity and support

Make the hosting environment easier to protect and recover.

Security and continuity are ongoing responsibilities shared between the website owner, hosting provider, developers and service partners.

Account & Access Controls

  • Named users, least privilege and authentication checks
  • Separate developer, editor and provider responsibilities
  • Credential rotation and documented recovery contacts
  • Change record for sensitive settings

Website & Application Protection

  • Updates for WordPress, plugins, themes and runtime
  • File permissions, database and admin review
  • SSL, security headers and mixed-content checks
  • Approved firewall, WAF or malware-monitoring scope

Start with the address, problem or change you need to manage.

You do not need to know every DNS record or hosting setting. Tell us the domain, website platform, provider and symptom—or explain the new setup you want to create.

We can help identify the responsible accounts, protect email routing, prepare the environment and document the next safe step.

Useful information to share

  • Domain name, registrar and current nameservers
  • Hosting provider, cPanel/WHM and document root
  • WordPress, CMS, application and PHP details
  • Email provider, mailboxes and DNS constraints
  • Current error, migration deadline or business risk
  • Backup status and people who own access

Never send passwords in an ordinary enquiry. Access is arranged through an approved method when technical work requires it.

Frequently asked questions

Planning domain, DNS or hosting work.

What is the difference between a domain and hosting?

A domain is the human-readable address people use, such as scriptureit.com. Hosting is the server space and software environment that stores and delivers the website. DNS connects the domain and other services to the correct destinations.

What are nameservers and how are they different from an IP address?

Nameservers identify the DNS service that publishes a domain’s records. An A or AAAA record then points a hostname to an IP address. Changing nameservers can move control of the whole DNS zone, while changing an individual record can move one service such as the website.

Will changing hosting nameservers affect our email?

It can, if the new DNS zone does not contain the correct MX, TXT and related mail records. Before a change, we capture and recreate the required records, then test website and email separately. Website routing and email routing are different DNS paths.

Can you host multiple domains in one cPanel account?

Yes, when the hosting plan and resource limits support it. Each website should have a clearly defined document root, database, SSL coverage, email arrangement and access boundary. Multi-domain hosting should not mean mixing unrelated files or credentials.

Can you set up WordPress hosting?

Yes. Scope can include WordPress installation, database, PHP environment, SSL, administrator access, staging, backups, performance and update responsibilities. Plugin and theme compatibility are checked against the agreed environment.

Can you migrate an existing website without losing email?

A controlled migration can protect email, but it requires an inventory of DNS and mail records before the change. The new website can be prepared and tested first, then the website route can be changed while MX and authentication records remain correctly configured.

How do you decide between shared hosting, managed WordPress and VPS/cloud hosting?

We consider traffic, application complexity, resource needs, control, security requirements, support responsibilities, budget and growth. The right choice is the one your team can operate reliably—not simply the most powerful option.

Do you provide domain registration directly?

We can support selection, registration, transfer and management. Registrar pricing, renewal charges and third-party terms remain separate. The account should be owned by the business with recovery access and renewal responsibility clearly recorded.

What happens if a domain expires?

Expiry can interrupt the website, email and other services, and recovery options depend on the registrar and timing. We recommend renewal reminders, verified payment ownership, registrar locks where appropriate and a documented recovery contact.

Do you provide SSL certificates?

Yes. We can help select, install, renew and test an appropriate certificate, including redirects and mixed-content checks. Certificate type, provider charges and renewal responsibility are defined in the proposal.

Can you fix a suspended or broken WordPress hosting account?

We can investigate the visible symptoms and coordinate with the hosting provider. Possible areas include billing or account status, resource limits, malware, firewall rules, DNS, PHP, database, REST/loopback and outbound HTTPS connectivity. Provider restrictions remain outside our control.

How are backups and restores handled?

The scope defines what is backed up, how often, how long it is retained, where it is stored and who can restore it. A backup is treated as useful only when the restoration process and responsibilities are understood and tested where possible.

Can you improve website speed?

Yes, subject to the platform and hosting environment. Work may include caching, PHP and database review, asset delivery, images, plugins, CDN configuration and application changes. Results depend on the website, content, traffic and third-party services.

What information do you need to start?

Useful information includes the domain and registrar, DNS provider, hosting account, website platform, email provider, current problems, access owners, important deadlines and any backup or migration constraints. Never send passwords in an ordinary enquiry message.
